Our Pastors

Meet the pastors at Thunder Bay Community Church!

Karen Puddicombe

Karen has been in full time ministry within the church for over 20 years. She was ordained as an officer of The Salvation Army in 1997 and has served in congregations in Yellowknife, NWT; St. Albert, Alberta, Niagara Falls, Ontario and now Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Karen is passionate about creating a relevant worship experience for those striving to connect with God. She values journeying with women through life’s ups and downs and desires to educate the local community, particularly youth, about those at risk of sexual exploitation. Her passion to connect with community is in constant creativity mode as she seeks God’s direction to be relational, compassionate and inclusive with those she encounters on a daily basis. "The church is not a place, a building or a structure it is the eager lives of those the Holy Spirit pitches his tent within. We are the church"

She and Mike have three great kids: Becky, Joel and Jessica and 2  wonderful son-in-laws: Peter (Becky’s husband) and Phil (Jessica's Husband)

Mike Puddicombe

Mike was ordained as a minister of The Salvation Army in June 1997. Prior to his ordination, Mike was a youth pastor for 6 years serving congregations in Victoria and Richmond, BC. He has a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies from Booth University College, a MA in Christian Studies from McMaster Divinity College, and he is currently working on his PhD in Practical Theology from the University of Pretoria.

Mike is passionate about the church and finding ways to be missional in the community. He loves teaching the deep spiritual truths of the Bible in a laid back style that appeals to the churched and the not-yet-churched alike. He and Karen were married in August 1987 and he adores his wife and kids.
